EVALUATION OF THE STUDENTS INFORMATION NEEDS IN “D. A. TSENOV” ACADEMY OF ECONOMICS

Summary
Progress of society is in strong connection with generation, accumulation and sharing of knowledge. Leading role in this process should have the educational institutions. The quality of higher education is influenced by such factors as: the student’s potential, competence and motivation of the faculty, quality and quantity of the equipment. This study is focused on the third component, in particular, on the equipment of educational process with modern information technologies. Emphases in the study are two: (a) structuring the needs of internet resources of students in the D. A. Tsenov Academy of Economics and (b) evaluating the potential spread of wireless internet among the student community. Results indicate that students are among the most active users of internet, mobile computers and wireless internet technologies. Students’ satisfaction with the internet resources, supplied in the Tsenov Academy of Economics is relatively low. The main recommendation for increasing the level of satisfaction is expanding the existing wireless internet network, thereby ensuring more reliable, more stable and faster data traffic.
