The development of commercial chains in Bulgaria was caused by the benefits they provide to customers. In the last two - three years there is strong interest of foreign retail chains to the Bulgarian market. National chains, in turn, expand its network of stores in various cities throughout the country, and some of them even think of expansion abroad. The survival and the development of the commercial chains in a market with strong competition is connected with the identification and the use of sources of competition advantages as well as the permanent evaluation and analysis of their competitiveness – a subject of research in this work. Based on this conclusions are drawn and recommendations are made for increasing the competitiveness of the commercial chains.

Our ... This survey is pointed to the evaluation of the present capacity of the local authorities to the process of endogenous development. In particular, the focus is on public administration in North-Western Planning Region and its attitudes towards and perceptions of the existing process and future prospects of community-based development. Our research shows a significant reticence of region authorities on implementtation of endogenous development concept. Despite ongoing development activity in the regional policy, the respondents would seem to be in rather chaotic phase of search where local problems have been identified and some ideas of development have been generated, but strategic solutions have not. In addition, local authorities would seem to seek for short-term results, while national government expects to create a long-term strategic planning in the locality. For effective endogenous development it is crucial to consolidate the local administration, to set up strong institutional nets to serve a community, to embrace leadership and participation in local dialog, to stimulate the interchange of ideas and information, particularly in ways which extend to the broader population, to strengthen interregional cooperation and so on. Social entrepreneurship required to use existing resources effectively and creatively to influence the planning level strategically administered.

The concept of « sustainable » development turned to a starting point for development of balanced economical and social policy in the course of environment not only globally but regionally and on a sectorial level. Biological agriculture is in the basis of this concept. It removes or decreases the negative ecological consequences of the conventional agriculture, it furthers biological balance in the produce sstem and leads to increasing the biological diversification at different regions and creating sustainable agricultural system.
