Summary
The foundation of new economics and the creation of favourable conditions for its further development is a serious challenge to any state. The successful adaptation to the contemporary model of economic development is invariably related to human capital development.

The formation of adequate human capital in Bulgaria is a tough and continu¬ous process. An important role in this process is of the companies, which not only use, but also must actively participate in the process of the acquisition and further development of the knowledge and skills of the personnel.

The present paper presents the results from research project “The Role of the Business in Improving the Quality of the Human capital in Bulgaria”, focusing on the examination of the current condition of the human capital in the Bulgarian companies, the opportunities for personnel development at company level, the comprehension and the attitude of the employers in this respect, the difficulties and the possible solutions to the problem.
